Largest Mini Rugby Festival in the South of England reach's its 32nd year!

Havant RFC Mini Festival

Held on Sunday 18th April 2010

Havant RFC, Hooks Lane, Havant, Hampshire

What is probably the South of England's largest Mini Rugby Festival and definitely one of the longest established will take place on Sunday 18th April 2010 at Havant RFC Hooks Lane ground. Havant RFC is one of the largest and most progressive clubs on the South Coast, and it is very appropriate that this prestigious Festival of Mini Rugby in Hampshire has captured the imagination of Rugby clubs both near and far.

A small dedicated committee have begun working on the Festival already, and as many as thirteen clubs, one from as far away as Tyneside, have participated in previous years. Each age group from Under 7s to Under 12s will have 12 teams, making for 72 teams in total. Over 1000 children will be involved, and this number will be swelled by the countless parents and siblings cheering on the players on the day.

The participating teams are divided into 2 leagues with the winners and runners-up in each league progressing onto the semi-finals and, if successful, on to a final - and the dream of many young players of winning such a prestigious festival. Following the success of the 2009 Festival, the 2010 festival will once again feature a Plate competition at all age groups.

What is also thought of as a first for a club Festival organisation is the heading up, once again, of this Festival on its own dedicated web site. As you can see the site (at www.festivals.havant-rfc-mj.co.uk/ ) has all the information that participating teams might need. After the festival all the results will be posted on this site and on www.havant-rfc-mj.co.uk

The Festival is a wonderful opportunity for many young boys and girls to show their skills before they take the jump to Junior Rugby. Win or lose there is no doubt that many go home at the end of the day being genuinely proud to have taken part in one of the biggest rugby events of their young lives so far.

Havant RFC is proud to invite you to our festivals.  Please download an application form, which has full details.

Due to the enormous popularity of these events, we would urge you to ensure your application form reaches us by the deadline of 31 December.  Applications submitted after this date will still be considered if there are spaces remaining.

Usually, the events are oversubscribed.  Unfortunately, there is limited pitch space and in these circumstances we have to decline some applications.  We are sorry this is the case but apply consistent criteria to make sure this is done on a fair basis.  We will usually give priority to touring teams, as they plan a whole tour around the festival.  After this, we will give higher priority to clubs whose applications we were unable to accept in the previous year, and lower priority to clubs who failed to attend previous festivals.

Because some touring clubs and others do not enter teams in each age group, the number of spaces available for other clubs may vary across the different age groups.  For this reason, a club hoping to enter teams in each age group may be given places for only a limited number.  Again, this is regrettable but it is preferable to a blanket refusal, which would be the only alternative.
